Organization
The
staff of A. G. Raymond & Company has over
60 years
of experience in industry and consulting in the forest and wood products
industry. The firm consists of four
consultants who have broad industry exposure.
Each consultant also has areas of specific expertise such as plant
layout, materials handling, production scheduling and control, financial and
cost analysis, and lumber yield improvement.
When teamed together on a consulting engagement this breadth enables
solutions that combine the wide vision of the generalist with the eye of a
specialist. The result is a
well-conceived response that considers both the client’s daily operating
problems and longer-range strategy.
Our
staff also includes a professional engineer with responsibilities in detailed
process design, materials handling, and plant layout.
This resource enables the firm to provide detailed input and oversight on
facilities development projects such as the restructuring of an older process or
the construction of a new plant.
On
facilities-related projects we also utilize the services of associated
engineering specialists in electrical, civil, structural, and construction
budgeting as required to complement our experience.
For
engagements with a marketing, financial, or information systems element we work
with allied firms with specialists in the required disciplines.
Our
consultants regularly attend major machinery exhibitions and trade shows in the
U.S. and Europe to stay abreast of the latest in product and equipment.
In addition we speak frequently at trade shows, industry seminars, and
university classrooms, publish a quarterly newsletter, and write for trade
magazines.
The
firm is equipped with a full computer network for word processing, data
analysis, computer-aided design/drafting, and accounting.
Through portable computers we can communicate both with the office and
our clients when in the field and complete necessary data collection/analysis
and revisions to layout drawing files.
We publish The Wood World Monitor, a quarterly newsletter, and contribute regular columns to FDM magazine plus the Wood Machinery Manufacturers of America newsletter, The Cutting Edge.
In addition we operate this informative web site that contains archives of these publications as well as presentations made to groups like the Woodworking Industry Conference, the International Woodworking Fair, and the Architectural Woodwork Institute.
These vehicles contain thoughtful, well-prepared stories summarized from well-known business publications plus our own thoughts on factors important to our clients' success. Our purpose is to keep our clients and associates aware of developments in our industry and the world that affect their businesses.
